I think it's a matter of timing and personal body chemistry/genetics. Catch it early and treat and you may be forever fine. Or, if genetically prone to one of the effects of Lyme, you might have to manage it more over the years. Catch it late, some people still may be fine with treatment but the risk rises that treatment/management is more prolonged. PLUS, the coinfections can complicate even these possibilities.
So, on a scale of 1 to 10, some people are affected only at a level 1, some are affected at a level of 10 but most of us are in the middle somewhere. At least, that's my take on it.
