big decisions to make in the upcoming month, need advice!!

hi all! hope everyone had a good week! so i've been delaying making a couple of big decisions, in the hopes of being diagnosed and on treatment soon. unfortunately, that hasn't happened yet, and its time i start thinking more about what i will be doing this upcoming year.

as many of you know, im a 21 year old with many crazy symptoms (primarily neuro) for the past 7 months and looking into lymes as the most probable cause (ive seen so many specialists and had many other illnesses ruled out by tests). what else could it be? i have an appointment with an LLMD September 8 and will hopefully have the doctor send for IGeneX testing- apparently i need a referral from him. I medically withdrew from a study abroad program (luckily was able to complete most classes from back in the states) in April. I was hopeful that having the long summer to focus on my health would mean i could enroll for my senior year at the university.

however, now august 7, with no diagnosis and symptoms that fluctuate and may be worsening, i need to make a decision. i am currently living with my parents (a 10-15 minute drive from campus). i have a lease for an apartment that i signed last year that begins august 15 on campus. i want nothing more than to be downtown, living with my best friend (who actually also suffers from a chronic illness- ulcerative colitis). i feel as if moving into the apartment would be healthy for me socially, and help me learn to better take care of myself without relying on my parents. however, i would be leaving the support of my mom and dad.

i also have to make the decision of whether or not i am physically healthy enough to enroll in classes. i have tossed around ideas- enrolling full-time with minimal credits, part-time, possibly just taking online classes, or maybe taking the semester off. i know that this decision has to do with how i feel, what i feel like i am capable of accomplishing, etc. however, i was hoping that if maybe anyone has had a similar situation they could give me advice! is it a good idea to try making the short move and starting fresh? i would always have the ability to change my mind. do you all recommend trying to keep myself busy or am i thinking about taking on too much? i had the whole summer off (did not work or take classes). i just cant imagine living the next 6 months doing as little as i have done for the past few.

what are your honest opinions? any insight into these big decisions would be very much appreciated!!

I agree. I found it incredibly hard to go to work somedays but I know in the long run, it was extremely important that I kept busy. I can tell you that I put alot of other things on the back burner. I let my house get dirty, didn't stress about things I once did. So maybe if you do go back, take less classes and go easier on yourself. Get as much rest as possible.

 

I also got through college with Lyme--not sure how!  I know I was exhausted most of the time, and that I was not capable of taking an overload, as so many others in my major were doing.  Ultimately it's your decision, but your parents are close by if you need something, and as long as you don't take on too much at one time (pace yourself), it might be good.
