Hi Irishtriplet!
Welcome to our forum!! I am so sorry you have a need to be here to even ask a few questions, but I am glad you found us! I'm sure you will find us to be a caring, understanding and helpful group!!
I would say that you have enough symptoms that you should be checked for Lyme Disease as well as other Tick-borne infections. Would your friend that is willing to sign for the tests be willing to treat you?
If you haven't already, it would be beneficial for you to start with reading through the thread at the top of the forum titled,
"New to Lyme?...Start here!!", as it is packed full of relevant information and informative links that have been put together by our members here! We also have a pretty good search function on this forum to help you narrow down your search for information from past posts. We must be our own health advocates now and the best thing to arm yourself with is knowledge!
Have you made contact with the Oregon Lyme Disease Network? (
oregonlyme.org/home.html) They have a listing of "face to face" support groups where you might be able to make contacts to find a good LLMD in your area.
Here are some more links though to help you with your search. For information on finding a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor(LLMD) in your area, please email our long time member, Dan's Mother at:
[email protected] You can email Stephanie at:
[email protected] You can also go to:
www.turnthecorner.org/bod.htm if you want to learn a little bit more about
Lyme Disease.
You can also go to The Lyme Disease Association and search for LLMD's 3 times in a month. You have to register first. Here is the link:
www.lymediseaseassociation.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=277&Itemid=74 You will want to find an ILADS (International Lyme And Associated Diseases Society) doctor. The ILADS site is another great place to read to get you started on your Lyme journey.
www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/treatment_guidelines_clearing_ilads.html Another thing that you can do to find a LLMD in your area, you can start a thread here, and put in the title that you are looking for a LLMD in - and name a larger city near you and your state. Hopefully, someone here will have knowledge of a good LLMD near you!
I would have to say that I believe that the diagnosis of Fibro is applied whenever docs aren't sure what else to call it. Those of us who are infected with a TBI (Tick-borne infection) will definitely have those same symptoms - the only problem is that there is an infection driving those symptoms - not some unknown force! That is a diagnosis that many of us have been tagged with I'm afraid.
There are actually 300 other diseases/conditions that Lyme mimics. Like Syphilis was many years ago was called the "Great Imitator", Lyme Disease is being called the "New Great Imitator".
You are welcome to vent and ask questions here!!! Please forgive me, as I am rather tired tonight, but I feel like I am leaving something out!
Gotta love this disease!!
