I am re-posting this information from another thread because it is very applicable to what you are asking. The health of your veins and blood vessels rely on proper nutrition. With Lyme disease it is hard for the body to metabolize what it needs because it doesn't digest food well, or because the systems in your body which break things down and build things up don't work well. If you are working with someone who understands nutrition, they should be able to recommend what to take in regards to supplements. If you were close by I would see you as a nutritional client for nothing, just to help you out with this. The state of Florida doesn't recognize Certified Nutritional Consultants, even though I practiced in NY, California and Washington state for years, but they can't stop me from helping people for free :)
This posting is from one regarding selenium:
I've been studying this myself. I am a CNC of many years, starting as an herbalist over 24 years ago, and adding nutrition into that mix 18 years ago. Selenium and other trace minerals are key in the proper function of the entire body, including the endocrine system, which immune system is regulated by. The best supplement for trace minerals I have found is Cell Power by Positive Power Nutrition. The base they have them in is nascent (freshly generated in a reactive form) oxygen and hydrogen. This oxygenates the body, which is useful in fighting Lyme as these particular bacteria do not do well in oxygenated environments (if you have co-infections, make sure they are anaerobic as well because some bacteria thrive in it). I have actually begun using the Super Silica as it is the cell power, plus the Silica, which I hope will help with my joints and bones. The Lyme has actually infected the bones in my skull. I just started using it, so it will take some time before I can tell how well it is working.
As far as glutathione, I have been drinking a shake every day from this company: www.wellwisdom.com called "vital whey". It is made from raw whey protein. When food scientists from Ohio State University exposed human prostate cells to whey protein, the glutathione levels in the cells increased by up to 64 percent. All I know is when I drink this shake every day, I have more energy and my body feels more stable. My doctor has me mix 1 tablespoon of COLD pressed wild caught fish/flax oil blend which is kept in the fridge to keep it from going rancid. This helps with a number of things, including neurological function. I have also begun mixing my Super Silica into my shake as well, since they all work together.
I am also eating whole organic foods as much as possible now. I am hoping to be 95% whole organic food pretty soon, which cuts out any processed grains and only uses the whole grain, as well as processed sugars.
