Just when I think I'm reaching the end of my Lyme treatment with abx  and am approaching the goal of being two months symptom free.....

.....I never quite make it!   A few symptoms have returned AGAIN: 

Shooting pains in my teeth, stabbing muscle pain,  and my arms and shoulders are just aching!   Hands are tingling again too!  And my memory is slipping.

Yesterday I had no absolutely no idea what year it was....and wrote a check out to someone for $2000.00 instead of $200.00....among other dumb things!    

I'm thinking either the Ceftin has run its course and I need an abx change to jump start my final attack on Lyme.......or........the Ceftin IS working and is just going after the last of the Lyme buggers that have recently hatched so to speak.  Herx rather than relapse! 

I see my LLMD next week...and I'm so worried we've run out of options.   Haven't tried Flagyll yet, though.  Maybe that's next. 

I've been in treatment for soooo long now and have made such great progress. 

I really thought I was coming down the home stretch. But nooooooo!    shocked

Oh, Cat!! I'm so sorry that you feel that way! Maybe you are on the home stretch - only it's a bit longer than it looks!!

Or - and I hate to even bring this up - you have another co-infection lurking in the background preventing complete healing from Lyme?

Although you do have to remember that you just went through a rather stressful time with your Mom - maybe this is just left-overs from that?

Whatever it is, it's got to be frustrating!! Hang in there!! You are still detoxing, right?

Hi Cat,

You and I seem to be on similar paths, I think. When I started to plateau my doc said it was time for Flagyl and the "Final Push". Maybe that's what your doc will say. Don't lose heart, you are almost there!

It does seem like we are on similar paths-- the elusive home stretch--  I always read your posts (not just ones to me) because of that.   smilewinkgrin   

What was/is your experience with Flagyll?  What remaining symptoms do you have?

Traveler:  No I have not been detoxing (baths) lately--bad me! Summer heat makes getting into a bath, off putting. But now that the weather is cooler, I'll start up again. 

I'll ask my LLMD about a possible co-infection besides Babs (which I was already treated for).....as being the culprit.  But maybe, as you said, the home stretch is just a bit farther away than I had hoped.  

What's even more frustrating, is that my chronic stiff neck-- right side only-- which has been feeling pretty good lately and GONE on most days.....

.....suddenly SWITCHED SIDES as of this morning when I woke up! 

It's in the same spot where it was on my left side-- really painful !! 

Right side feels absolutely normal-- go figure!  It's like the buggers packed up their instruments, MOVED LEFT and set up a new shop.  

Perhaps I just slept wrong.....but this is what I thought when I first got the stiff neck on the RIGHT-- not the left (oops thus this edit), until it never went away.  

But hopefully that is the case.  Plain ole' stiff neck unrelated to the wandering minstrels of the Lyme Brass Band.

Is there somewhere else we could encourage them them to set up their band? I have some more of the Lymie Band living with me that I could send over!!! Giggle!

Hey Cat,

I took Flagyl to finish off treatment the last time I was treated for Lyme.

This time I am taking it again with another abx and herbals. I've worked up to 750mgs a day. Right now, I am having a "break" because my doctor has kept me on the same dose this month so I can catch up with my detoxing. I was having a lot of encephalitis and meningitis. The neck thing -- absolutely terrible. Frankly, I was living on the couch! And miserable -- lost the will to do anything but watch mindless TV.

This week I feel great, have energy and am getting projects started and completed and am having a ball doing. What a difference -- and a wonderful taste of how things will be when I am finished with this treatment. Neck still hurts, though. I am so glad I went to my PCP to get some bigger pain killers.

Keep plugging away Cat, you are well on your way. Visualize a bottle of wine at the finish line!!! (or whatever else is your cup of tea)

I think we should send the Lyme Band straight to you know where!  LOL Or worse!   Maybe to an antibiotic factory.  Or Siberia or Mt. Doom...or the surface of the Sun! 

So happy to hear you're feeling great, achievinggrace!   I am ever hopeful that my treatment will end soon too!  Flagyll sounds like the way to go to get there.....where wine awaits!   ......and a big chocolate cake!
