Anyone have kidney problems with lyme, babs or bartonella?

My husband is having reduced kidney function and they can't seem to get to bottom of it.  Just wondering if anyone has had kidney problems which they believe may be related to lyme. Thanks.

Can I ask how he knew of the reduced function. Was it less urinating or by blood test?
I havent had blood tested since I began abx in July but have an order to do it now. I have been having slight pain in kidneys and urinating alot less a and slower?

He has been urinating more frequently causing him to get up at night numerous times. It was only after hospitalization when they mentioned it and upon the LLMD doing bloodwork every month after diagnosis in June that she noticed kidney function was off.

Before zero-ing in on Lyme, I was scheduled for a heart CT, They called me the night before and said they couldn't do it because the routine test showed decrease in kidney function.  Have had no (kidney) symptoms.  a week later test came back okay.  But it was at this point we figured whoa something isn't right (I'm 39, never had had any health problems), and realized the lyme I'd been "cured" of 2 yrs. prior was still around.  Kidney functions been fine since, but it sure had the dr.s perplexed.

Has me perplexed too. I am still focused on the lyme infections as the cause. Looking back though his function has been off now for a year and a half and PCP never told us. Did you jsut have the one incident or was it longstanding?

I too have been urinating frequently. Waking up also at night just to urinate. Never tested kidney function. No pain in urinating just frequency.

Kramberry, are you on treatment ?  If so, your dr. should be running standard bloodword every so often.  The kidney function is part of pretty standard bloodwork.  It will show up at BUN, creatine or eGRF.  Ask for a copy of your bloodwork and perhaps check it.

Yes im on treatment, but dr hasnt mentioned anything about it yet.

I have urinary urgency and frequency.  I become incontinent if I do not make it to the bathroom immediately.  All tests had been coming up normal until very recently, when the BUN/creatinine came back slightly elevated, but returned to normal within a couple of months.

One more thought--has your husband been on any strong antibiotics?  The cephamycins contain an MTT side chain that often leads to kidney problems/disease as a side effect.

Thanks Lyme14. He is on antibiotics now but his kidney function was off apparently as far back as early 2010 and we were not informed by PCP. He just however started on antibiotics this June.
