Hello!

I am new to the forums and new to Lyme disease (see my first post under Need Lyme Doc for some of my background and story). I am needing to have IVF soon to be able to get pregnant. Does anyone have any experience or advice on Lyme disease and pregnancy? Or has anyone heard of anything that could interfere with having IVF or getting pregnant?

Hi again Ella,

Gosh, this is a big subject! You are probably going to want your doctors to put their heads together on this one.

You say in your other post that you suffer from several conditions that are considered symptoms of Lyme (thyroid problems,endometriosis, anxiety etc). This could indicate that you have been infected for a long time. If that is case, you have some work ahead of you to get back to full health -- I am not sure how that effects your IVF or a pregnancy. Seems a lot to take on at once!!

We have members who had pregnancies during and after their Lyme treatment, I hope they step in and explain their experiences. In the meantime, you can use the site's search function in the top right hand corner of the page. Just type in pregnancy and lyme and many previous threads on the subject will come up.

Have you located an LLMD yet?

Hi! Thank you so much for responding! It is alot to take on and I am pretty much losing my mind but trying to keep it all under control. It's especially difficult because I know first hand that I have to be my own advocate and that the doctor isn't always right! I have tried calling several LLMD's in my area and all but one so far do not take insurance. And insurance is a must since all my pregnancy/IVF related issues are being paid Out of Pocket. And in order to go to the one doctor that I have found who uses insurance, I have to switch to him as my primary care physician. But then I am afraid to do that because that might negate the referrals I have for the fertility issues and my back issues. So disgusted with all of this. I need to find an LLMD that I can be referred to (a specialist) who uses insurance (I cant pay up front). I will definately search for other threads on this subject. I really hope someone can help me out! I think I have been infected for a long time too. And my doctor (primary care doctor) who ran the blood test only put me on doxy at 100mg twice a day for three weeks. I took the last of my doxy today. Tomorrow I am going to call her and try to get her to at least prescribe 3 more weeks of the doxy, and up the dose if she can. She also has not done any blood tests for co-infections. I'm tired of being my own doctor :(

also, let me just say before anyone starts to ask me why dont I wait to get pregnant, I am 37 and have diminished ovarian reserve as well. Lets just say that I dont have time to spare.
