I'm not sure whether you feel better getting things done or you can't get things done until you feel better!! Either way, having some sense of progress and purpose is really key to feeling well.
And once you start accomplishing things the momentum really picks up: it gets easier.
These are some things I figured out in my get off the couch journey.
Use the TV as a home base and pacer and reward. As you are watching, write down things you want to get done. Then choose something you will do when that show is over. Make it a small and doable task like "clean off table", not "clean whole house.".
Focus on the task only -- don't let your mind wander to thinking about all the things you need to do or what a wreck you life has become.
Reward yourself when you are done with a favorite thing or another tv show, but then try to do something else after the next break.
Somedays you will be more effective than others. Accept what you can do and be pleased with what you have accomplished. Berating yourself doesn't help. You'll find the more you start to do, the more you are able to do.
Not feeling good today? Write a list of things to get done tomorrow. Task too big? Break it into stages: like with a house painting project; clear area, buy paint, collect equipment, set up, prep work, paint, and clean up. The stages can be carried out on separate days so the whole thing doesn't get overwhelming. Trick is to get right back to it and not the disruption add to your chaos!
Don't let the puzzle of figuring out priorities or the most efficient way of doing get you bogged down. It all needs doing just start with the thing in front of you. Pick up the thing you keep tripping over. If a task gets frustrating, set it aside and come back to it fresh.
Make the work fun put on music, imagine you are a magician, even leave the tv on for company.
Well, hope this helps!
