So my GP called me (who ordered the tests) and he says that both the MRI and MRA came back absolutely 'normal'!!

My question is... if there's any brain lesions, would they say how many? What is considered 'normal'???

I pick up my CD with the images tomorrow. Not sure what to do with it next, but at least I've got em!

Hi there Hopehere,

Well congratulations on a normal result! I suspect with the way you are feeling, you were thinking there would be Swiss cheese sized holes on that MRI! The damage/effect Lyme is having on your brain is not necessarily visible and the lesions can even come and go.

At least you've ruled out any other problems and can just focus on the work of getting rid of the Lyme disease.

All my MRIS and cat scans came back normal also.. The only test I had that showed anything was EEG.. The doc said it showed areas that could indicate that I was having seizures.. and my case seemed to be pretty advanced. I had Meningitis, bells palsy, was delirious when admitted to the hospital and for months after I couldnt drive without my eyes automaticlaly shutting!

MRI will not show what the Amen type brain scan shows. Or if it does they never read for it????


to see if you are deficient in basal ganglia area or this area or that.

Have you ever seen the scans in the books by Daniel Amen.

where he shows different brain types and what type supplements or medication these brains need?

If I had $3200 I would get one of those scans so I know really even which brain supplemts to take or meds.

Something else that isn't necessarily common knowledge is that after a certain age (I think it's 40??), a few brain lesions are actually considered 'normal'!! smhair I know, I thought it was odd as well, but this is what I have read on several fairly reliable sites.

My Brain MRI showed several small lesions and my GP told me that wasn't so abnormal - but he learned all that he knows of Lyme through me from either articles that I brought to him, or from tidbits that he read trying to just keep me from having to be admitted to the hospital (no- not the mental one!! Giggle!).

Before I was diagnosed my results kept stating that I showed white matter? They said this was typical of people with migraines or hypertension..
