But heres my question....for people who hunt deer..kill them and eat them.....well if ticks feast on the deer..can deer get lyme?...and if u eat the deer and it has lyme...can u get lyme by ingesting the meat?...or by u cooking the meat will it kill any disease it has?...i know this is dumb....but i was just wondering...lol.....my husband has killed a deer and i dont want to eat it...im grossed out

Hi Lymie,

The bacteria are destroyed at 105F. And any that survived, maybe in the case of eating the meat rare, would be destroyed by your stomach acid.

Don't be grossed out! That is quality meat; low fat, sustainably raised and comes at the right price!

And any other farm animals can and are bitten by ticks.

Oh, did I just turn you into a vegetarian!?

LymieAngel - whether you eat it or not, ask your husband to take a few more. There are too many of those giant forest rats around here. A friend has hit two with her car in the last two years yeah

But yeah, cooking it well will take care of any issues.

And there are no stupid questions.

i think that i am turning into a vegatarian....lol....the only meat i can eat is deli meats...and i have cooked deer meat many different ways......but i just dont "dig" it...my doc told me not to eat too much protein anyways...i think this is advice i will actually follow....and sickman, im sorry your friend had accidents with deer...they are super dangerous to run into...i have hit a couple myself.....

is anybody else having trouble eating?...i have developed a hatred for food lately...nothing taste good and i have been tested for heavy metals...and i had arsenic but nothing that would really mess my taste buds up....*shrug*...but thanks for answering my question..i was kinda scared to ask it....but i was thinking hard about that thing and i have a hard time not having closure...lol

My appetite swings quite a bit. Although I think you probably hit the nail on the head when in a previous post you said that you lost your appetite because you now have to eat so much all the time with taking all of your meds! That happened to me while I was using abx - way back when. I had to eat like six times a day...and I'm not that big of a fan of food!! I didn't eat that much each time, it was more the fact that I felt like I was constantly pushing food down my throat!

about your eating Deli meats - did you know that the FDA has recommended that all lunch meats - even from deli's - need to be cooked now? It's because of all of the contamination from e-coli, salmonella and others like the bacteria that causes botulism. So please be sure to cook those deli meats!!

Yeah, I gave up red meat 9 years ago when I went on a crash exercise to lose weight (I was at 280 lbs!)....I lost 80 lbs and have maintained that loss since then (now stil abt 200). I eventually even cut out poultry, pork and all other meats except fish and seafood (and I am in the heart of chicken country). I get my protein from the fish, beans, kefir, and nuts, primarily. Back then I did not know I had Lyme but something inherently told me to get helathy about my lifestyle. I think having done that is helping me deal with all the Lyme I have in my system now and why I seem to be recovering at a good rate - we'll see if that holds (knocking on wood).

I have hit two deer with my car over the past two years - they are crazy rampant here. .
