I'm 8 1/2 weeks into antibiotic treatment for Lyme. about
2 weeks ago I had an increase in symptoms. It eased up after a few days and then my symptoms have increased even more the past week!
Muscle spams and twitching, stiff neck, a cold/wet feeling in my forehead (anyone else experience that?), head pressure, and now a headache that has been pounding for the past 18 hours.
Is it okay to be having increased symptoms again? I haven't had so many problems since before I started treatment with the exception of right after starting antibiotics (which would only last a few days).

Hi Scarlet!
Good news, your treatment is working!
The couple days of feeling better is known as the "honeymoon period". Your medicine starts to work and symptoms reduce. Then the toxins from all the bacterial die off is produced too fast for your body to evacuate. And then the body reacts to the toxin build up with an auto immune response.
Basically, there is a war going on in your body and war is a messy, painful thing.
And you are the collateral damage.
You can really help yourself by stepping up your detox tactics. Whatever you are doing do more of it, and add something else. Be aware that the bacteria surges in four week cycles, so you can listen to your body and know that to expect it. Get lots of good rest! You might want something like Pinella to remove neurotoxins in particular.
Now some doctors and practitioners are of the opinion that herxing is unnecessary and unhelpful. If you feel this is doing you harm, do call your doctor and see if you should adjust something in your medication. Don't make these changes on your own, please!!
Hope you feel better soon

Achieving Grace- is it normal to still be feeling bad for a week straight?

It was for me, but I have been fighting this for three years! It's a little hard for me to know what "normal" is anymore.
You should see some relief from your home palliative care (detoxing, diet, supplements, exercise).
It does sound like you have stirred up a lot of stuff and it will take a while to get cleared out.

I thought after 2 weeks of doxy that I was on the road to recovery.
I even wrote a success story about
it.
On the 2nd day of doxy, I had a herx which lasted a whole day, then I felt really good for a few days.
I guess this was my "honeymoon" period.
The doxy seems to also have gotten rid of my headaches, but other new symptoms are happening now.
The most troubling of which are the muscle spasms and twitching, which keep me from sleeping at night, pain in my joints, and blurred vision.
I've read people take magnesium and potassium for the twitching, I'm giving that a try.
They say Lyme requires magnesium to multiply, and in doing so, it robs your body of it, causing the twitching.

My headache finally let up. It was starting to go away, and then I did an Epsom salt foot bath with a little hydrogen peroxide and the headache is totally gone. I feel a lot better. Still having the twitching.
Cliqster-
Have you started magnesium yet? I am going to pick some up to try as well as some other natural herbs.

I've been having everyday muscle twitching for months now. I don't think potassium/magnesium will help the twitches if it is caused by lymes. Usually people who have muscle twitches that are related to some other cause do this and it helps them. It seems like we have a lot of the same symptoms. I have the headaches and the head pressure as well. Sometimes it feels like my whole head is being weighed down.
