My first LLMD appointment was today.

I went to my first official LLMD appointment today. My igenex tests came back. I was CDC positive for Lyme and negative for bartonella, erlichia, anaplasma, and babesia although the doctor thought babesia was very likely a factor. My CD-57 was under 20.

I was somewhat happy to have a positive test, but it was very strongly positive and apparently suggests that not only is it active, but it has been around for longer than I thought.

I was on both of those for a tad less than 2 months. they helped me alot but very hard on my liver and lowered my white blood cells. I had to stop them. As far as herxing, I think it is different for everybody. I hadn't had lyme etc as long so I had a worsening of symptoms for awhile and slowly things were less and less. I had been having alot of major sweats going on at all times.

Did you change your diet at all? I gave up sugar first. that is the worst! I didnt want to be feeding them. Then I began eating almost gluton free, low carbs, no or minimum sugar, no sodas. No sugar substitutes, except stevia or xylitol. I pretty much gave up grains.

Oh and when I took my meds, my llmd told me to take it with fats like a TB peanut butter. I guess the fats help you absorb it better?

Just keep checking your liver etc when on abx.

I hope you have minimal herxing and quick healing!!

If you do herx, dont forget to detox!

This may sound weird, but congratulations on your positive test! A CDC positive test will help you out a lot with matters of insurance and - hopefully you don't need it - disability.

A strongly positive test doesn't necessarily mean that you've had it for a very long time - all it means is that the bacteria is recognizable in the blood rather than hiding away in your tissues, which may make treatment much easier! It means your immune system can recognize the little buggers and get them!

Scorp7's right - herxing is totally different for everyone. Personally I react very quickly to everything, so I usually herx daily within a few hours of taking my medicine. Detoxing and drinking PLENTY of water (with lemon, if you can) will help a lot with herxing. I've never taken either of those drugs, but I'm pretty sure antibiotics need to be taken a few hours before/after any probiotics...because both will interfere with each other.

My best advice is to try not to worry (I know it's easier said than done!). Sometimes the hardest part of dealing with this illness is the uncertainty, not knowing what to expect, not knowing exactly how to take this or that medication, etc. Remember that it's a process, and it takes some time, and you don't have to know everything (although before long I'm sure you will!). It's going to be an interesting journey, but you're on your way to recovery, and that's the most important thing! Good luck!

Hooray Summer, you are on your way to getting better!

Your strong positive test result means there were a lot of antibodies detected. This is good, as it shows that your immune system is up and running!

It is recommended that you take mepron with some fat; the stuff tastes terrible -- so make it something yummy!

Your body will be doing some pretty hard work, so remember to get plenty of rest. And if you do start to feel poorly just keep telling yourself that the first herx is the hardest.
