OMG. This sounds like what happened to my husband. He was in the hospital and was shaking and crying and feeling horrible and the only thing they could find was low hemoglobin and discharged him to go see a gastro dr. to find the cause of the bleed. It turns out it was Lyme and Babesia which is a parasite of the red blood cells which will cause all of those symptoms. However, he did not test positive in the hospital for either. Demand that his blood either be sent to Igenex or that a PCR test be done. Do not give in.
I wish you the best. Please keep us posted.
"A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test has been developed for the detection of Babesia from the peripheral blood.PCR may be at least as sensitive and specific as blood film examination in diagnosing babesiosis, though it is also significantly more expensive. Most often, PCR testing is used in conjunction with blood film examination and possibly serologic testing."
