First LLMD Visit - Fine Tuning

Went to my first LLMD appointment yesterday. For the past two weeks I've been doing REALLY good. Detox baths, the Protein and Greens mix, vitamin C, magnesium supplement and mega vitamins have really been doing the trick. I've been walking 30 minutes a day, soon to bump it up to running every three days or so.

Back to the visit. Dr. S was as advertised; very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. The only things he did was double my abx (I expected this), and add acidophilus. He took some blood to check for other TBI's but he didn't think I had any. I go back to see him in a month. He said that since it seemed I was on the mend all we were trying to do now is 'fine tune' me. I thought that was very appropriate. He said I would not walk out of his office until I was 100%. I can't wait to get back to running. Soooo close now.

Thanks to all who have contributed to answering my numerous questions, particularly Yazzer and Traveler. The knowledge on this board is truly phenomenal.

One question, how do we as an LD community fight for LLMD's to get the respect they deserve within the medical community? Doctors like this need to be heard and should be included with insurance plans. I know I'm not going to stop fighting my insurance company until the CEO of the company says no.

I would like to say thank you for your kind words to all of us here! We definitely wouldn't be what we are here without such wonderful members who offer their suggestions and share their experiences! Our members rock!!! turn

As for your question about how to fight for our LLMD's? - I believe that we must "strike down" the misconceptions that I.D. docs and others have spread. Once the majority understands the truth about Lyme and other tick-borne infections, then the docs who have stood so bravely beside us, trying to help us reach some level of health again, will be safe to treat as they know they must. I'm sure there's more sites, but I know that lymedisease.org has ways to help raise awareness in any area of the country, and I believe that we need to start there. Our voices need to be heard.

...See this is why I kind of want to get a bumper sticker that says "I <3 my LLMD!". It's pretty ironic that the doctors getting the least respect are the ones going the extra mile for their patients. Pretty unfair.

Yes! Exactly! Isn't it a wonderful experience when they tell you that? And when you leave an appointment more hopeful, instead of fearful? There are drawbacks to using an ND in Canada (they don't have prescribing rights in every province, and they aren't covered by health care, but what LLMD is either?), but the reason I go back is I leave every appointment with her feeling so hopeful!

I'm really glad things are going well!
