Ticks Are Out!

Beware! They are out. My dog just brought one in. I saw it crawling around his head above his eye.

I am not ready to go through this again. Forecasters are calling for a bad year with ticks due to the extremely mild winter and a population increase in small mammals that transport the ticks.

It protects the dog, but the way Frontline works is that the tick has to bite and then dies. The problem is that ticks sometimes don't settle in to bite for up to two days. During that time, it just roams the dog's body, but it can drop off, crawl onto furniture or a person.

Some people use both Frontline and a tick collar, but my vet told me it still is not foolproof.

Hubby will be out spraying our yard tonight. That worked very well last year. We'll also put in the tick tubes again.

Not a natural product, but it works very well and we will be doing it again this year is Ortho's "Bug-B-Gon". I don't receive any compensation from this company in any way, it's just a really good product!

We have used it for the last two years and it keeps the number of ticks and fleas down tremendously!

those sprays...how often do you have to spray and are they toxic?..my kids will want to play in the yard this spring/summer

also where do you get diatomaceous earth? do you just spread it throughout the yard or do you mix it in??

Makes me happy to have small dogs. I don't walk them in the winter at all . Actually, I don't walk them very much but they run around the house and are perfectly happy with that. LOL

I just got a second dog. I thought it would be no big deal since I have to check one and protect from ticks. But not so. The anxiety of being responsible for two is almost overwhelming. So unfair that this nasty little thing can steal our lives.
