You know, I really don't like the term "Chronic" Lyme. Sounds like something that can't be fixed.
At this point, the scientists cannot prove a patient is completely free of the Borellia bacteria. Nor can they determine if a recurrence is a matter of relapse or re-infection. So we are a bit in the dark.
As there is no absolute answer, so let's declare our own. I am fully intending to leave this disease in my dust! Will I be completely clear of Lyme and co-infections in the future? Yes, in the very near future, in fact.
My doctor says one day I'll be eating dinner with my friends and when the subject of Lyme comes up I'll say, "Oh yes, Lyme, I had that a while back. It's all behind me now." Can't wait.
I can't think that it would help a person at all to allow themselves to be haunted by the specter of "Chronic" Lyme.
So let's get completely well, and declare ourselves cured and get on with our lives!
