It's been almost a week on the doxy and I'm glad my LLMD only put me on 200 mg a day to start so my herx wouldn't be so bad..because trust me, it's not been easy.
I have some weird things going on..
-Stabbing pain in my right upper leg when I walk. I have had it for the past 4 days and it comes and goes, but is quite painful.
-Nausea..Oh yeah..I have it. I take the doxy after eating, then eat more to ensure I don't throw up
-dizziness and bad headaches and head pressure
-fevers on and off and chills
Also, the medication says no iron or calcium, but there is NOTHING I can eat that doesn't have iron or calcium in it. I'm on a strict Anti-Candida/Anti-Lyme diet and so it's protein and veggies for me.
So I do avoid all vitamins and supplements for at least 2 hours after taking pills. I don't even drink my almond milk for at least 2 hours after. But I do eat veggies that have iron in them like spinach.
I hope this is alright. I hope I'm doing everything correctly.
I already told my mom I may not make it to my step sister's (who I am not close with at all and hardly know) wedding next month because my LLMD is going to up my doxy to a higher dose. She gave me a guilt trip, but she doesn't understand how tough this is on me and I'm not going to let it bother me. If I can make it, I'll go, if it's going to do me in, I'm not going. That's it, end of the story.
Also, I'm trying to detox when I can. I did a few detox baths last week and I dry skin brushed last night. I am drinking a ton of lemon water and I'm even making some detox tea and sipping on that.
I just wonder what's up with those stabbing pains? It's crazy!! It literally feels like I'm being stabbed in my upper leg.
Anyone who has been on doxy if you have any suggestions or feedback I greatly appreciate it.

I had the stabbing pain in my left thigh - deep in the middle of my quads...I thought it was from over-running back before I knew I had Lyme...I am sure now that it was Lyme...it will pass with time...

Yeah, that's what it is. I'm not sure how to walk to make it better. I have been kind of sliding that leg around when I walk. I probably look like a moron, but hey..it's painful! The children I work with were asking me why I was limping as well as my husband.

Hey Sleepless,
I have just finished 3 months Doxy and am enjoying a break. It wasnt necessarily obvious to me at the time because I was so ill but having come off it, it is obvious Doxy was responsible for a LOT if not all of my nausea and gerd issues.
I generally feel quite a bit better off it as well - people had told me that I may feel better having come off it - I wasnt completely convinced about
this and had the notion that my symptoms would return at top speed making me nervous to come off.
Sounds like you are doing all the right things. Eat before taking doxy, avoid supplements 2 hrs before and after and stay upright for a couple of hours - never get up to have your doxy and then go back to bed as I did a couple of times - it gave me horrible gerd symptoms that took days to get over. Other than that getting your LFT's monitored regularly and avoiding sunlight is about
all you can do!.
Good luck
Hugh

Thanks for the advice Hugh. May I ask why you're taking a break from doxycycline ? Are you healed?

Haha if only, just taking a break to get some tests done - my llmd says being off abx for 2-3 weeks will increase the accuracy of my lyme and coinfection panel testing so no doubt i'll be back on something within the month! Wish me luck!
