Try not to worry. I know it's hard. I'm worried all the time also.
I've had to go in for "immediate" blood work and appointments a few times. Usually for some problems with my liver. It can be a blessing and a curse to have an overly involved/cautious LLMD lol.
As far as the positive western blot.........I saw it as good news even though it seems like testing positive for a serious condition is a negative thing. I was happy to have the positive test for my own validation as well as to get help from a LLMD. Although most LLMD's will treat based on clinical diagnosis' anyway.
I agree that he may just want to test for co-infections, get a baseline of your other blood work like CBC, metabolic and chem panels or possibly a CD57 so that you can start treatment as soon as possible.
To me, based on what I had read through many books and advice from others with Lyme, it was really important the the doctor I went to was considered lyme literate and followed ILADS instead of IDSA guidelines. I would try to find out which guidelines your doctor prefers so that if he follows IDSA and you don't agree with that, you can find another doctor and get on their waiting list ASAP.
