Absolutely carry your pills with you in your carry on! And bring a few extra days' worth in case of delays. If you are taking any liquid medicines, make sure they are in a small enough bottle to get through security (I think that's 3oz).
Keep hydrated! You can't carry water through security but you can buy some on the other side. If you have a couple bottles with you on the plane, you don't have to worry about the cabin crew bringing you enough.
There are a lot of options for food in airports and in hotels -- you can almost always get a salad or find some fruit. (Temptation from sugary treats is another thing altogether!) The airplane food (if they offer anything at all) probably won't be what you want. Again you can get something once you have gone through security. I always carry some nuts and dried fruit to keep me going in case of no good food being available.
I do pack my other "cures" and support stuff in my suitcase so that my carry on isn't more than I fee comfortable carrying. I take my own Epsom salts, for example, because sometimes it isn't the easiest thing to find.
Get plenty of rest! Although you are just sitting on a plane or in a car, it is taking a lot out of you. If your trip is as long as three days, you might find that you hit a bit of a lull on the third day. It's something to do with adrenaline subsiding, I've heard.
Protect your immune system. Take vitamin C and anything else to boost your immunity. And use that hand sanitizer!!
And have some fun! This is a great time to forget that you are sick. Enjoy being with people who don't know you are ill, talk about other things, live it up!
Hope it goes well.
