Anyone ever told they can't be treated with antibiotics?

I am having very severe symptoms. I have been getting worse and worse from Lyme and co-infections for many months. I have never been able to do more than a few weeks of treatment due to liver enzyme elevations which don't respond to aggressive liver detox methods (milk thistle, glutathione IV, NAC, ALA, detox teas etc.).

I tried herbs for several months and I didn't have any response at all. Then I did antibiotics and started having liver problems no matter what combo I was on. My LLMD now does not want to treat me with antibiotics because my liver enzymes went up. When I'm off antibiotics, I have very severe symptoms, particularly neurological symptoms.

So my question is, have any of you successfully treated with herbs from an advanced stage? Were you able to treat successfully with herbs without lowering the bacterial load with antibiotics first?

I am worried about this. I was initially told that herbs would not be strong enough for the severity of my case. So now I'm not sure how they would work when I'm in a much more severe state than I was then.

Would most LLMD's pull meds for mildly elevated liver enzymes?

Hi Summer,

There have been many members who could not tolerate antibiotics. Don't know where they are just now....

Our co-moderator, Traveler, had terrible trouble getting treated and is now doing very well using Chinese Traditional medicine. She's a little busy now with goat birthing and some family issues, but I know she will answer your e-mail if you write her.

She is very knowledgeable about many of the different alternative therapies.

Also, don't forget about the Search function on this site -- there is a lot of very helpful info in the older posts.

Good luck, I really hope you find a treatment protocol you can tolerate.

Maybe you can convince your doc or see another one? With me, I have sometimes had elevated liver enzyms when I started a new ABX, after some time they normalized. Maybe you can ask if there is a threshold when abx consumption must be stopped immediatly?

I have kidney and liver damage from mycoplasma and bart, cannot take any abx at all. Doing the cowden protocol instead and I am back to work after 6 months (part-time but I am back:)) Also have an acupuncture doc to help me detox once a week. My LLMD is surprise to see my improvment. :)

When one cannot tolerate meds or gets no response with natural meds, I would say you need to look at metal detoxing, liver detoxing and doing some bio cellular drainage first.

You cannot clog the body with meds (natural or allopathic) if there is no route to release the biotoxins.

If I could go back to when I was dx and treated, I would have cleaned my body first, worked on the terrain, then taken the abx and natural herbs. I was a mess when I took abx. But I didn't know better then, I do now!
