Hey all,

Weird symptom that I've noticed over the past few months is easy bruising. I was really bad during the winter and it doesn't seem to have changed much. Little bumps that wouldn't have caused bruises in the past are now causing me to. I was bitten last July and have been unwell since. Has anyone else had this symptom of easy bruising or slow healing of bruises?

Hi sayersn,

I was told that it is a sign of a shortage of Calcium. Lyme can often interfere with your ability to absorb minerals and vitamins.

So you could consult with a nutritionist or your doctor or start taking an easily absorbed form of calcium.

I have heard that this can be a sign of a specific type of anemia associated with babesia. When I get a bruise, it lasts for a really long time. The same thing goes for cuts. I'm scarring up from blood draws and minor scratches that normally would not.

That's really interest. Thanks! I haven't been tested for co-infections yet as I had to mail away a sample for only lyme serology. I have an appointment to see an LLMD later this month so I assume she'll test me then. I seem to have additional symptoms that fall in line with babesia, but that's merely from certain things I've read. Actually, a lot of material I've read of Babesia lists only a few symptoms, and one common one being fever, which I don't really have at all.

Are there any comprehensive, legitimate sites which list any and all babesia symptoms? Some site I have found seem a little questionable.

I do not have fevers or night sweats either with babesia. I did have a very high fever at onset, and I when I was off antibiotics I was getting dramatic weekly cycles of terrible symptoms. I also got extreme headaches. I had a very strong reaction to Mepron which is sometimes the best "test" for babesia.

Ok thanks! I'll have to give it a read. Yeah it's odd, because I had no problems with bruising prior to my issues, and I had a number of cbc's while having the symptoms and they all read normal. Perhaps you're right, perhaps it's something associated with babesia.
