Do any of you take iodine as part of your treatment?
I started taking one kelp supplement about two months ago. After about a week, it started giving me a headache and upset stomach. I continued taking it and after another week, the headache and upset stomach went away. It has 400 mcg per capsule.
When I started it, my extreme fatigue was almost immediately a little better. It seemed like the iodine was perhaps causing some kind of herx reaction.
Anyway, about three weeks ago, I started taking Promoline Iodine. It, too, is a natural iodine source and has 3 mg of iodine per tablet. After a few days, I got the headache and upset stomach (gas, bloating, constipation). That lasted a few days and then went away.
The fatigue is definitely a little better. I am now considering taking Iodoral, which is 12.5 mg/tablet. I will cut them in half, at least at first.
After a lot of reading, I am starting to wonder, if I do have Lyme, if the iodine itself is having some effect on it. The only thing is, my brain is worse. So, here's a weird theory that I'm very cautiously exploring. What if the iodine is causing a bit of die-off, but because I wasn't doing anything to get toxins out of my brain, they built up?????
I'm probably grasping at any helpful straw. I just want my brain to get better. I can't stand this dizzy/intense fog feeling (like I've had too much to drink or taken really strong cold medicine). I don't like my neck, arm and back pain, but I would accept them if my brain would just get better.
