So after seeing an LLMD 3 months ago I have been on a treatment plan for the 2 months. The treatment has been experimental to see how I respond since my Igenex lab only showed an IND on band 41 and all other negative including co-infections.

I'm on Doxy 400MG/day, Clarithromycin, Nystatin and Flagyl. I have continued to feel worse over this time period, experiencing more extreme fatigue, every muscle in my body aches upon waking in the morning, extreme head fog, nausea and dizziness.

I know it's typical to experience herx's throughout treatment but I have not had any good days in the last couple of months. I'm just wondering if this is typical or if I should start investigating other causes of my illness. I've exhausted pretty well every other avenue... all my labs and scans show that I'm perfectly healthy yet my body feels at war with something. Looking forward to hear your thoughts.

So sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I know you have probably heard this, but are you detoxing? As you kill off the bacteria, the toxins are what causes the herxing. Two months is really not very long and sometimes depending on how sick you are it will take much much longer to feel better.

Have you discussed with your LLMD? It is such a hard thing to stay on treatment but believe me it is worth it in the long run if in fact it is lyme you are battling.

I would say this is very typical. It is exactly what I experienced.

Your body is having a hard time keeping up with all the die-off the aggressive treatment is producing. Your best bet would be to step up your detoxing regimen.

Other than that, as time passes, you will feel better.

I am sorry you are going through this. It is hard to keep fighting when you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's there, you just can't see it because there is a bend in the tunnel. After awhile there will be a day when you suddenly notice that you feel better and you have "turned the corner".

Hi Springsjean, thanks for the reply.

I had a follow up call with my LLMD today and the symptoms that I noted as getting worse she said are those of Babesia so she is switching some of my meds to go after that.

As for the detoxing , I probably don't do it as often as I should which could be why I am not getting any better. I plan to continue treatment that's for sure but I always have in the back of my mind what if it's not Lyme... and I'm sure everyone else has had those thoughts too. I would feel better about the treatment if I knew my labs came back positive.

Regarding the detox bath my LLMD gave instructions for 2 cups Epsom salts, 1 cup baking soda and 1/3 cup hydrogen peroxide. I thought we are supposed to use like 3 or 4 500ml 3% bottles? This would get very expensive since each bottle is $2.00. Could I get away with using less?

To be honest, I rarely use the peroxide, as I don't get to the store often enough to keep it in stock. The epsom salts alone, following a dry brushing, are still very effective.

Thats good news, thanks for the tip. I don't mind using 1 bottle or 2 at the most but to use 3 or 4 in a bath would get pretty costly on top of everything else.
