Hi I have an appt with an LMMD for my daughter but cannot get in until Dec. I had her Dr. run a WB and here are the results
IGG LYME B Neg
IGM Neg
18 KD Non Reac
OSPC 23 KD Non Reac
28 KD NR
30 KD NR
39 KD NR
41 Reactive
45 NR
58 NR
66 NR
93 NR
39 kd IGM NR
41 KD IGM NRM
OSPC 23 kd IGm Reactive
Dr said she doesnt have LYME but why does she have reactive on 41 and 23?
Any thoughts?

Band 41 can react with other bacteria but band 23 is specific to Lyme. I would definitely keep the appointment with the LLMD. In the meantime, is there another doctor that could help somehow? Perhaps an integrative or naturopathic doctor? They are generally more open to the idea of chronic Lyme.

We live in a small town so no i dont have those options. What I dont understand is a reactive 23 IGM would indicate a new infection correct? This has been going on for 3 years what could this mean?

Lyme doesn't follow the "normal" rules for infections (namely, IgM = acute, IgG = chronic).

ILADS-trained LLMD's know that it is actually more common for a person to have IgM bands positive than IgG bands in chronic Lyme.

The reason for this is that the Lyme bacteria are constantly changing their outer surface proteins so the immune system has to always be making new antibodies (i.e., IgM antibodies) to the Lyme bacteria.

I see well that makes sense this is all so confusing. It is so hard to know what is right to do for my child her dr. told me it is depression and that she needs to be put on Prozac. I am thinking about trying it until I can get her in in Dec. just to see if they are right. I find myself hoping they are so she doesnt have to go through all of this Lyme treatment. Is there a possibility with these test results that it isnt Lyme? Sorry for rambling im just feeling overwhelmed:(

Both the LLMD/NP my husband & I have seen say if you have even 1 band reative, you have Lyme. My LL Nurse Pract., who has worked with Burrascano, among others, told me that if my WB came up with nothing, she'd send my labs to Igene-x. It came back with just 39 reactive. That was enough 4 her. She thinks, depending on where one lives(upper eastern US, Wi, MN, MI) that basically everyone has it, it's just a matter of time until it "show" itself, or flares.

It's too bad you have to wait til Dec., but hang in there--it really does sound like lyme.
