Palpatations

Hi I had a really weird experience and I wanted to know if this was normal and could be Lyme or if I should pursue further tachycardia and Pvc's for about 2 years now and have been taking a beta-blocker for about a year and a half. I also have had a few wpisodes of super ventricular tachycardia before.

So last night I took my pulse and it was about 90 bpm, not bad I took my beta blocker and got ready for bed I went to bed. All of the sudden I started getting these rushes over my body kind of like I was floating and I felt my heart going faster and faster it was 138! I was dumping sweat by this time and my whole body was shaking.

I called my family that lives about 20 min away to come and get my daughter and take me to the hospital. It was about an hour before I arrived at the hospital and they were over full so I was stuck in a room with no monitoring for another 2 hours! Finally they hooked me up to monitors and my o2 sat was 84% and my pulse was 115 they put 2l of oxygen on and left me for another hour. By the time they did finally do an ekg my sats had normalized and my pulse was 80 and o2 was 100%.

I was feeling a lot better after the oxygen and my ekg was normal so they sent me home no further testing no blood work. Even though I was admitted with classic signs of a heart attack they only did the ekg. My question is is this normal Lyme something that I shouldn't really worry about. The pvc's Tachycardia and chest pain I can handle i'm used to that but the euphoric out of body feeling and 84% oxygen scarred me. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Beachlover I'm so sorry you are going through the cardiac symptoms also I wish that nobody else had to go through this. I do have babesia and have been treated first naturally for 1 1/2 years and now with antibiotics and naturals for a year. My heart conditions actually developed after treatment started and my LLMD fears that the damage done with my heart and there's not much to do to bring it back. The Tachycardia, chest pains, PVC's I can handle and those don't really scare me because it has been at least 2 1/2 years of this happening daily but the beta blocker was controlling most of the symptoms. What really scarred me this time was all of the pain was on the left side of my chest and a lot of pressure, dizziness, vomiting, and low o2 levels. I have never had low o2 levels and when your brain isn't getting enough oxygen boy do you feel weird! I'm still concerned that I may have had a minor heart attack and they blew me off because of my age (I'm 25) and do get blown off a lot because of my age.....

Hi there.  First, its been a very long time since I've been on this forum.  It has been 10 months that I've been completely symptom free.  I had exactly what you are describing.  My highest rate of tachycardia was 185 bpm, with a drop in blood pressure and low 02.  I was also on the beta-blocker for over two years.  But once treated for lyme (6 months), all of my symptoms are completely gone, and I had MANY symptoms.  I no longer take any heart meds and avoided a heart nerve catheterization.  That is not to say you shouldnt have some concern, and monitor, control, until things improve.  There is still risk (primarily, stroke from blood backing up if heart rate gets too high).  It was explained to me that the lyme or a coinfection was affecting my nervous system including the nerves around my heart.  Good Luck.  and HANG IN THERE!  I am proof that there is life after lyme!
