Hi Reconomy, rest assured, you will be okay! This is a tricky illness but in the hands of a skilled practitioner you can heal from this thing! What kind of doctor are you seeing? Usually, unless a doctor is trained by ILADS, their treatment isn't comprehensive enough to give you the results you need. For instance, doxy may not be enough, as it only treats one form of the bacteria that causes lyme disease - a lyme literate medical doctor (LLMD) will understand how to treat all the forms, and understand how long you need to be treated.
You should also take a look at the new to lyme thread - there's a lot of great information there about
lyme disease, including information about
detoxing. Detoxing is crucial when recovering from tick-borne infections - when we treat these infections we often have a herxheimer reaction - that's when you kill off more bacteria than your body is able to clear out, and you experience a worsening of symptoms. Unfortunately most doctors don't address this part of treatment, but that's what we're here for.
