HI Lymelyme!
Welcome to our little spot here!! I'm sorry to hear of the troubles you've had- thyroid an adrenal issues are common for those with Lyme and other tick-borne infections.
Band 28 is specific for Lyme disease. It actually indicates that an outer surface protein (Osp D) of the bacteria has been found. So yes, you do have reason to suspect having Lyme. Either your body was able to handle the infection(s) or they could have gone dormant if you haven't been experiences many symptoms.Either way, you'll need treatment in order to keep from having possibly serious issues later on.
The specialists for these diseases are called LLMD's - Lyme Literate Medical Doctors, and here are a few ways to locate one:
Please email our long time member, Dan's Mother at:
[email protected] You can email Stephanie at:
[email protected] You can also go to:
www.turnthecorner.org/ if you want to learn a little bit more about
Lyme Disease.
You can also go to The Lyme Disease Association and search for LLMD's 3 times in a month. You have to register first. Here is the link:
www.lymediseaseassociation.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=277&Itemid=74 You will want to find an ILADS (International Lyme And Associated Diseases Society) doctor. The ILADS site is another great place to read to get you started on your Lyme journey.
www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/treatment_guidelines_clearing_ilads.html I would also really encourage you to read through our "New to Lyme? Start here!" thread that sits at the top of this forum. It's packed full of important information and links, as well as symptom lists, and a list of questions to ask your LLMD - once you have one.
I would also encourage you to read Dr. Joseph Burrascano's paper, "Advanced Topics in Lyme Disease", as it's easy to understand and covers the most common tick-borne infections and their abx treatment.
You should be aware that there is the option of treating these infections naturally, should you choose to. Many here (including myself) are having very good responses to these treatments.
We also have a really good search function here! You can use it to search through older posts for symptoms that match up to yours and to learn more about
these infections.
Probably the best news is that you are not alone!! We are here to help you learn and to help point you in the right direction for treatments and news.
Once again, welcome to the Lyme forum!!
