Have an of your LLMDs prescribed Keflex/Cephalexin? I'm on Keflex, Flagyl, and Doxy. I can't find anything that says Keflex is good at killing Lyme. I'm going to ask my Dr. about it, but just curious if LLMDs use this or if it's maybe a newer Lyme therapy? From what I've read, it prevents bacteria from making and forming a cell wall.
Also, I'm going to be traveling to Florida in Oct. and I'm worried about the risk of sunburn on Doxy. My LLMD mentioned switching to Azithromycin. Is one proven to be more effective than the other w/ Lyme? I don't want to unnecessarily change treatment to something that could be less effective.

Zith is good for the cell wall deficient form of Lyme. It's a good medication. I have not heard of Keflex being used as a Lyme treatment. I have however heard of Ceftin which is another cephalosporin being very good for Lyme and of course Rocephin which is VERY commonly used via IV.

There is no way to determine which med will be the most effective for your situation. Doxy sunburns can be SEVERE. I used to get a very strong reaction to it. It was a horrible blistering rash. I would personally go ahead and switch if your doctor thinks that will be okay. Zith goes after a different form than doxy. Doxy, ceftin, amoxicillin, and mino go after the spirochete.
