So I've had a red bullseye rash for about 3 months now, along with some classic lyme symptoms. The first question I have is...can a rash last this long? Like I said it's been at least 3 months.
My other question has to do with antibiotics. I went to the dermatologist a few weeks ago and she did a test for lyme which came back negative...so I guess she isn't going to treat me for lyme, but she did put me on solodyn 65 mg (which is Minocycline...which is used to treat lyme...correct?) to treat my acne. I think I'm going to be on it for a while. Will this treat my lyme?

I had a rash for several months. It wasn't exactly a typical bullseye. It came after some kind of bite or sting. I had had a tick bite engorged a few weeks earlier, but this rash I believe it was from a fly. The ER doctor thought it was cellulitis so he gave me only a few days of Keflex. A few weeks later I had a 105 fever and a rash all over my body.

I have not been on minocycline yet, but that dose seems very low. I don't believe it will do much for Lyme. The test you had was likely an ELISA which is VERY inaccurate. I would find a LLMD and have a western blot done through Igenex. LLMD's will treat clinically. Actually MOST doctors would have treated based on the rash alone for at least 2-4 weeks. I'm not sure what that dermatologist is thinking...........

my bullseye wasnt there long about a week from sighting and treatment. wish I had known back then what Ive learned here only a couple weeks of antibiotics would leave me jacked up years later.
