The Anti ID ID Doc

After reading all the awful ID doc stories, I just keep laughing to myself about the one and only ID doc I ever went to.

I must be the ONLY person who went to an ID doc who saw Lyme everywhere he went.

He was semi-retired and practiced in a wealthy community. I saw him for some other stuff, but, I swear, he sounds like everybody else's description of a great LLMD.

He took a VERY thorough history and physical exam. He spent probably two hours the first visit. He mentioned he might want to look for Lyme.

I asked him what the treatment was for Lyme and he looked kind of sideways at me and said, "Long-term IV antibiotics". I'm not kidding - that is exactly what he said.

It actually scared the bejeebers out of me and I didn't think I wanted him to look for Lyme... Didn't matter much since I moved out of state shortly after that...

But, after reading everyone else's horror stories about how all the ID docs try to tell them they DON'T have Lyme, I just had to tell my story. It makes me laugh because I didn't know how good I had it....

I know there are other Lyme-literate ID docs out there, but it just seems so sad that most of them take the "there is no Lyme" stance, when so many people are truly suffering...

i have so far seen two ID'docs plenty of other doctors still trying to find out if their is anyway in hell a poor guy

can see a llmd. but during my second hospitalization for obvious lyme but they called it "remarkable orthostatic

symptoms in need of investigation. ha ha retards :( anyway they eventually sent in the first who said their are

two kinds of doctors those who believe in lyme and those who don't i'm the latter kind and i said ok well then

what would you're appraisal be then? he said i don't know what i can tell you really allot of doctors have had

their careers ruined for mentioning lyme i admit i haven't looked into it much and i don't mean to. i said i find it

astonishing that you are openly telling me that. so i insisted i at least be given a second opinion he ok i know a

guy who is into that kind of thing. the next day i get a visit from another outside refered id specialist. he turns

out to be the founder of the open medicine institute and working for stanford research as well on a CDC funded

no less ( >< ) study on lyme cfs and POTS. his resume is simply amazing he confirmed i was exactly right about

everything and said get out of here now before these idiots kill you or worse i am a phd md (actually that is

only the start of it) and they won't even listen to me so get out of here and come see me. i'm not participating

in all the wonderful research which will hopefully help future generations and all i can't afford him for treatment

but he advocates for me to who ever needed on his own time without asking a dime.

I'm probably the worst one about telling people to stay away from ID docs. There just aren't enough of them that actually believe in chronic Lyme to send people to in hopes that they might be one of the "good ones". So to play the odds, I heavily suggest that people just stay away from them all!

To be fair though, there are getting to be more and more LLMD's that don't know a thing either! That's kind of scary to me too, I mean those who hold those initials used to be a sure thing that people would get a certain standard of care - but now, it's getting to be more and more often that people are getting shoddy care from some LLMD's as well!!

It's such a shame that we are caught up in a political issue so that we can't get the care we need. In my mind, it's down right criminal - unfortunately, not enough people in the right places agree with me!! LOL!!
