Hi all,

I am currently on ABART (and soon to be IV ABX I hope) but I am having terrible sound sensitivity along with tinnitus that first started my right ear and now seems to be in my left ear.  This ringing started before I started he ABART, so it's not the cause.  I am only presume that this ear stuff is lyme related.  I went to breakfast with my daughter yesterday and the restaurant was so loud...OMG..it was awful!  I find myself jumping at everything...everything startles me because of the noise.

I hope this goes away soon!

Im on doxy and amox and my sound sensitivity is real bad. I believe its lymes not the treatment and are some past posts commenting the same. There are some basic suggestions and that it gets better with treatment.

Mine gets real bad sometimes and my eardrum pounds and its really uncomfortable.

Usually its someones voice that seems to me shouting but I'm the only one hearing it this way :(

At my visit to the ENT doc last week, he asked me if I've noticed any hearing loss. I said, are you kidding...I have bionic ears!

I'm not on any abx, and I have had the worst tinnitus at times!! UGH! You are sooo right - it's awful!! But it's not from the abx, it's from the infections.

It does get better with treatment. When I first got this lovely symptom, it was constant, day and night, with many different sounds - humming, high pitched squeal, and others. Now it only bothers me about 2/3rds of the time and it's always the high pitched squeal - oh joy! NOT!! LOL!!

Ugh....the ringing and hissing in my ears is driving me insane!!!! I'm having anxiety that this is NEVER going to go away!!!!!!

I wonder if the ABART drops I'm taking could be making it worse... I don't know what to do. They have definitely helped with my energy levels and the neuro symptoms, so I'm reluctent to stop and see if it helps with the ringing...I just do not know what to do about this....

I would encourage you to continue with your treatment, Carrie. Although you may be herxing, and one of the reactions is that the tinnitus has increased, it's possible that it's also the only way you will get rid of the tinnitus.

Be sure that you are detoxing well, though.
