So sorry - back from hurricane

I've been away almost the whole week as we have been without power here in NJ all week.  It will take me a while to catch up on all the past weeks posts.  I hope everyone is well.  We were very blessed to have only minimal tree damage but many in our town and neighboring towns are devastated.

Please keep the people in NJ in your prayers.  Thanks.

I'm so glad that you and your family are unscathed.

I saw the reports from New Jersey on British TV, my heart goes out to those who have lost nearly all they had---heart breaking.

Seriously, I'm so glad that you didn't have much damage and that no one in your family was hurt! It's sure nice having you back on the forum!! ((hugs))

Glad to see you post , I didn't know you were in NJ ... because I am new here , but I did notice you hadn't posted , made me worry ! Glad you are ok , I will keep the other residents in my prayers , I have seen the devistation on the news , very scary indeed

Glad you are ok. I'm on the other side of the country and all the pictures on the news from the storm and the aftermath are horrendous. So amazing not more people's lives were lost...

We went for 8 1/2 days without electricity here once (2006), due to a severe wind/snow storm taking out major power lines. No fun at all. Glad our neighbors had a woodstove so we could cook and get warmed up, but after a week, we were going a little nuts from no showers (no hot water), freezing cold temps in our house, etc. (it was December).

Anyway, glad you are able to get back online again, too.

So glad you are ok too...was just in NJ to see a new LLMD and driving through some areas trees were down everywhere. Trees were still leaning on the wires across the street which made for a scary ride.

I have family there and they too lost several trees but escaped flooding. They are bracing for the expected wind today - hope that you don't lose more trees tonight!

Hi springsjean and everyone else,

Welcome back!  I have seen horrible devastation on TV, NJ, NY (including Long Island where my Mom lives).  My Mom just got her electric back after 10 days and she had no heat either.  All she had was a battery operated radio and use of the 4 gas burners.  And my Mom will be 88 next month.  I was so worried about her and was going to drive 200 miles to go get her but she didn't want to leave.

It's like Katrina except for the freezing cold nights...  really horrible and still many people don't have their electric back nor heat..  My heart goes out to everyone who was affected by Hurricane Sandy and then the snow on top of that..  Amazing..
