Hi hope2b,
I think that type of dentist you are talking about is called a biological dentist. They are holistic dentists who do not use mercury in fillings, etc. I know of some members here who have had their mercury fillings removed simply because mercury is very toxic. I believe the prodedure is very expensive. (I don't have my natural teeth anymore partly due to an accident when I was 17, etc. but that's besides the point). Below is a link explaining more:

Are you taking abx? When I took doxy, it turned my remaining natural teeth black. Then later on those teeth became loose and some fell out. Yeah, I looked really funny! Another reason I stopped abx and turned to alternative medicine.
I would stay away from any toothpaste that contains fluoride. There are many "natural" toothpastes such as Kiss My Face Toothpaste that contains aloe vera, tea tree oil, etc. It can be bought at Vitacost.com. I'm not sure but I think I read somewhere that rubbing tea tree oil on your gums really helps (but please research this before doing it and never swallow the tea tree oil). Also, taking CO-Q10 helps as well as some other supplements.
When I was sick with lyme I wish I had paid more attention to my remaining teeth but I didn't. I was too sick to care.
Hopefully some other members will come along and give some good pointers.
Hope this helps!
Denise
