I have always had some half moons in my fingers and at times during the last few years I have ridges on some of my fingers. Over the years some docs have made comments and when I do digging on it on the great wide web, I find a variety of explanations from - you want half moons as none show vitamin b deficiency, thyroid malfunction, etc. To - its not ok to have half moons. Ridges can be a variety of deficiencies. At least that is what I read.
So...what do you all know about half moons and ridges? Causes, good/bad, ways to fix? Just trying to figure out up from down. Thanks!
I am aware of different explanations for ridges. Some say lack of B12 and B2, others lack of certain minerals such as zinc.
I believe ridges are caused by a disrupted metabolism, perhaps due to disrupted mineral transport and all of the reasons usually mentioned may play a role. It's likely that inflammation may ultimately be behind such disruption.
My ridges have disappeared since introducing vitamin K2 and raw milk kefir but I also take J knotweed as a broad spectrum anti-inflammatory. K2 is a little known vitamin that acts in synergy with Vitamin D in calcium metabolism. There are dozen of studies on this key vitamin in correcting osteoporosis, reducing arterial plaque and preventing heart disease.
I also noticed that ridges were worse on antibiotics (they disrupt cells biochemistry) and heavy metal chelators which affected minerals metabolism.
