Homeopathy????

We have one member here -Peacesoul - who put herself through Homeopathic school and not only treated herself, but now treats other Lyme patients, including some here. I'm sure she could answer all kinds of questions about it.

Homeopathy is not the same thing as Naturopathy. They are distinctly different. Homeopathy is an energy medicine based on the law of similars ("like cures like") and is not the same thing as using herbs or colloidal silver or anything like that.

Naturopathic practitioners often use homeopathic remedies in their practice. But Homeopathy is a special subset of Naturopathy, not the same thing.

Please don't use the two words (homeopathy & naturopathy) interchangeably...it is too confusing to those who don't know the difference.

That said, there is a book by Peter Alex, called "The Homeopathic Treatment of Lyme Disease" that has some excellent information about the use of homeopathy in the treatment of tick borne diseases.

I read the book and ordered the main remedy in the book, Aurum Ars. Taking this remedy made my anxiety and constipation completely disappear. However, it only mildly helped other symptoms.

I think because I've had Lyme for so long, I probably need a combination of various homeopathic remedies and not just one.

But I don't have a good handle on the use of homeopathy for chronic illness, and haven't found a practitioner locally who seems to be worth the cost to consult with.

So I just use homeopathy to help with medication side-effects and other various symptoms.

I am currently being treated with homeopathic remedies (and yes, bearing in mind the distinction mentioned above..they are indeed homeopathic! :) Am also being treated with other things, herbal formulas and a couple of phamara bioidentical hormones.

I am seeing great results, but cannot distinguish exactly what is doing what...the homeopathics vs the herbals.

I am seeing Dr. Jernigan...and yes, Deejavu, he uses homeopathy extensively but not exclusively :)

In addition to my good results, given this particular doc has treated thousands of patients, I would also tend to say that it works given that track record.

I do think you need a highly trained Homeopathic doctor, though.

And I have done some research on homeopathy itself...there have been some studies done on it..not a lot. Many do show a statistically significant improvement for various issues. You can google this. I found quite a few veterinary studies and a few on humans.

Some studies don't. I don't think it has been studied extensively enough for the "regular" scientific community to accept.

On one homeopathy website they state that HOW it works has not been proven from a molecular scientific standpoint. However, just because standard western science does not understand HOW it works, in my book, does not mean it doesn't work :) I think acupuncture falls into the same category from a stand western perspective.

So...imho...yes...try it. Find a good qualified Homeopathic practitioner. I think MHom (masters in Homeopathy) behind the name is an indication of qualification.
