Does anyone here take HCL and if so do you because of self testing/diagnosing with baking soda or the more formal procedure to test for low stomach acid. I have done and continue to do the home-baking-soda test - and it consistently indicates VERY low stomach acid. So, I have been taking HCL to help with that. But the problem is I never get that "warm feeling" that I read about
- as a sign you've taken a bit too much and to start backing off.
I currently take average about 2-3 pills per day. My stomach is SO bad (again after gotten a break for 3 days) that I start questioning am I taking too much or too little? I know that low stomach acid can cause the very same things as high stomach acid - like acid reflux, for example.
I know the symptoms for low stomach acid are identical as they are for high stomach acid. I also know from reading that LOW stomach acid is VERY common as we age. Low stomach acid dramatically impacts digestion, absorption, etc. AND it can contribute to parasite issues because there's not enough stomach acid to help kill them/keep them in balance.
If you do take HCL, when do you take it - before food, with food or after food? I've always taken mine with food but now I am wondering it I should not take it with food and my supplements (including probiotics .... will it kill the probiotics?. So many questions. Can anyone help? Thanks, kathleent
