I am sorry to hear of your nasty symptoms. Of course we have all seen the lengthy lists of symptoms that are attributed to each of the microbes. If we look at them closely, we can also see that there is some overlap between these microbial symptoms- they often share similar symptoms.

I like the way that Dr. Horowitz looks at these illnesses. It is an illness syndrome. He speaks of the synergistic effects that appear when several or many of the microbes take over the body. Who can really determine whether any specific symptom is an isolate from a single microbe or the product of a synergistic assault on the body?

Furthermore, if we look beyond the immediate effect that the microbes themselves have on the body, other, but secondary issues will arise. I have recently been crash-coursing to gain more knowledge about the endocrine system and its relevance to illness and health. I have discovered that hormonal imbalances such as that of cortisol can lead to seizures! I had previously never considered that.

When the microbes multiply and take over, there are various possible chain reactions that can take place. The body is under heavy and prolonged stress. The adrenals will attempt to mitigate the stress on the body. If the stress is high and prolonged enough, then the adrenals will crash. This will send a negative feedback loop to the neurotransmitters in the brain. When this occurs, the Autonomic Nervous System can go into a state of fight or flight. Seizures can also result as a direct consequence of neurotransmitter imbalance. These complex chain reactions are a downstream result of the synergistic assault of stress on the body.

The issues can become even more complicated when we consider that stressors can shut down nerve circuits in the body. When that happens, multiple organs may be significantly impaired if they are serviced by the impaired circuit. As the body attempts to compensate and rewires, the nervous system is thrown out of balance even more. Dr. Jernigan deals with this extreme condition a lot, and often eliminates these shorts in the neurological system.

The more that I am learning about this complex of ilnesses, Dr. Joseph Burrascano's statement makes more sense to me. He has said that evaluation of the illness, its symptoms, and its treatments are "multi-factorial."

Having said all of this, there are several possible causes of seizures and neurological issues.

Shaking does not neccessarily mean a seizure. Seizures and tremors are very different. And need to be treated differently. Seizures always occur in the brain. There is a loss of consciousness, bladder control (often), the body and brain gets no oxygen. A seizure longer than 5 minutes can and often does leave someone brain dead. When someone has a seizure, they don't know it is happening.

Hey Don, since you are looking up the info currently, the MTHFR gene mutation also causes seizures. It's a really interesting way in which it occurs. I am trying to find the article I found on it, stored in some file in my computer. I will post it when I find it. But apparently, improper methylation and level of high homocysteine can also result in seizure. Scary how many things can cause such an unfortunate effect.

Yeah, I dont think lyme/bart is "real" seizures but its a seizure like uncontrollable involuntary movement. From what Im seeing online ppls LLMDs link it more to bartonella. Im having lots of hot/sweating episodes thru the day and some chills with shaking and chattering teeth at night even tho its warm here. The bottoms of my feet have become super sore when i get out of the bed in the morning, so i think its bart that is really progressing right now...
I have severe headache 24/7 and migraines, those over lap with lyme and bart.
any suggestions are appriciated

I have seizure like episodes also, I had them tested, the doctors do not think they are (not real) seizures as they do not affect my brain. The thing is when they come on , I fall down, usually the next few days after I am on a cane because I can't walk. My whole body shakes, then is feels like the Lyme attacks my body in different spots, my mouth opens , and closes, and I make strange sounds.

Afterwards, I smell ammonia from my skin, so I don't know if it's a die off of the Lyme or what, the doctors were confused about it also, but I have seen many people with Lyme on the internet having the same type of seizures like episodes as myself. I take different medications but nothing has really worked so far. Hope we figure out how to stop them, I am getting tired of them already.

I didn't live with those tremors.. I lived with actual seizures. I had them for 17/18 years, until a little over a year ago they stopped. My doctor believes it was due to lyme or a co-infection. I am starting to believe it was that plus the MTHFR gene mutation. Improper methylation begins a cascade of other issues. Like Don said, hormonal, endocrine related, heart, blood sugar, blood clotting, autism...the list really goes on. Depression and anxiety are huge factors with it as well. Dr Rawlins is really incredible with the mutation. There is a great 4 part segment on youtube, where he does a great job explaining MTHFR, on a really easy level.

Don, I have a ton of great info with this MTHFR gene info, as my daughter and I are tetbook cases of it, from all the deficiences it creates, to the symptoms. The flow chart that Dr Rawlin has up in this segment will make your head spin. I have seen most of them and have come to understand them very well.. But this one.. holy cow!

Oh, also, the next step for my daughter and I is to get the the methylation pathway panel done, amino acid test/organic acid test. This will help us well in understanding where we are truly blocked..

Oh, can you post them Deejavu? I just bought molybdenum and I don't know when exactly to take it except in between meals.

When taking those things, it is incredibly important to remember that you must take them at least 2 hours (or more in some cases) away from any supplements, abx, or food, as they will bind to those things as well and remove them from your body before the body can benefit from them.
