i don't want my parents to spend big money and i don't have budget for invisalign or porcelain veneers.Besides veneers and invisalign is there any options to cover or remove the discoloration of teeth after root canal without spending too much?

I don't really know much at all about that topic. I just quickly googled the topic, and it seems that a lot of dentists think that its really tough to restore a white appearance with the darkened appearance.

Here is one dentist that claims to have a technique to perfectly restore the color of a darkened tooth. I have no idea what it might cost.

Is it discoloration from lyme treatment? I'm getting dark spots on my teeth. My LLMD said that it's from the abx. She said that the dentist will be able to get it off during a cleaning, although it will take some work on their part.

To Mystery Illness, Amoxicillin can cause discoloration. The package insert says it will come off with a cleaning. I don't know if this will help.

Hi all,

The short time I took Doxy my bottom teeth (when I had them), turned black.  When I stopped the Doxy they returned to their original color.  So in my case it was the Doxy that caused this...  I can't imagine what the Doxy did to parts of my body that I could not see.   smhair

I didn't get any side effects from using alternative medicine, whew!

Oh Denise, that is good to know

I have been getting some black spots on my teeth and I thought they were cavities but I've been on doxy for quite a while now so it might be that. My teeth have also been staining much easier but I didn't think it would stain black. Whew

I'll be sure to ask the LLMD in 5 weeks when I go back, just in case!

I just want to redirect everyone to the original question. Morneau wanted to know about discoloration of teeth after a root canal.

Heather's teeth also darkened from the Minocycline that she took. As soon as she stopped taking it, she went to her dentist, who was able to remove the discoloration with dental cleaning.

Hi Don,

The problem with the original question is Morneau never answered if he/she has lyme, is taking antibiotics, etc.  So we can only "assume" which I really dislike doing.  I'm not good at the guessing game, LOL!

I had root canal work done over 20 years ago and I don't remember if the dentist gave me abx or not.
