I just received this letter from a clinic in Anchorage, when I inquired about my Lyme Disease Treatment.

This is in response to your fax. It is not prudent, practical or possible to treat Lyme Disease long distance. You need to be where you can receive continuous care. You would need a central line with antibiotics every eight hours. The line would need to be monitored with scheduled dressing changes. Our clinic is not equipped to offer those services.

I'm sure your computer searches have turned up doctors in Florida and New York who specialize in Lyme Disease. Some patients have taken that route

I've just received the Cowden Protocol today - I'm getting very very worried because my cognitive symptoms are becoming increasingly bad, and I sure don't know how I am going to get out of this.

IV abx are not required. There are many who do ok on oral abx or injectables. No PICC line/infusions required.

And there are herbal protocols as well...Cowden, Buhner, Zhang, Byron White, etc.

So don't despair - there are alternatives.

Buhner also has a chapter in his book on helping to deal with some of the specific symptoms of Lyme, including brain fog. I think the book is well worth the cost for this info alone...

And he explains a lot of the mechanism behind why Lyme is so destructive in the body. Good read, in my opinion.

I'm just on oral and am doing much much better though I have some bad days. I really hope I don't have to do IV! Mainly cuz I can't afford it!

There are a lot of naturopathic docs in alaska. http://www.akanp.com/find_city.html
Keep in mind they have to do pre-med to so they really are trained physicians. Maybe you can call around and see if they have worked with lyme - anyhow they nd docs in my experience are among the few that will listen to ailments without judgement.

They might also work with an underground 'traditional' doc up there that uses abx to treat lyme or tbi patients anyhow. Worth a shot! I have gotten referrals from my herbalist for regular LLMD's.

I found thee LLMD that's a ILADS member in Anchorage. The only one in the whole state of Alaska. I've heard it's bad to post the specific names of LLMD's on forums, so I guess just PM me.
Also you can find ILADS LLMD's through the ILADS site, just use the contact via email button on their website and tell them you need a LLMD near your zipcode and they will give you the closest 3. That's how I found mine.

I'm also getting a second opinion once in a while through a medium size naturopathic doctors office that treats chronic lyme in Anchorage. They are very good too.
