I've found many great recipes in Indian, Mediterranean, Southwestern and Jamaican food cooking. A number of South Beach diet recipes will work too. The trick is to combine a core range of healthy spices with lean protein or fish, fresh vegetables and very specific non-gluten grains.
Stay away from the pastas, most sauces, breads, yeasts, sugars, bad oils, gravies, as you already know.
Spices I use all the time include: Curry, coriander, cardamom, cumin, mustard, ginger, turmeric, onion, garlic, cinnamon, basil, rosemary, thyme, oregano, jalapeno, habanero, paprika, smoked paprika, chili powder, clove, allspice, Jamaica jerk rub. All citrus and citrus-like marinades are great too.
Not only are these spices great in food, but many of them are scientifically proven to be anti-parasitic, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer or all four.
I've also replaced all of my pastas/grains with green/red lentils, oatmeal and quinoa. Recently I have found quinoa is actually a seed and lentil is legume. Both great additions to my diet.
