I went to a md today a toxicologist and he said I have Rouleaux. does this go with lyme disease? it is a blood abnormality.

also, he said that the many docotors that are llmd's with the international group are not as literate as they need to be and he also many lyme md's will use ignenex to get a positive result because all of igenex's test results come out positive. he said he sent 10 pts lab to igenex and each one came back positive for lyme and you know not each one had lyme disease. he talked like many other labs have sensitive tests for lyme.

he talked about propoganda being used to get more positive results to up the numbers of lyme disease by the international group

has anyone ever heard of this? he told me not to see the llmd I have an appointment with but I am going to see him. I am stil not convinced I don't have lyme altho I have a negative test. now I am scared I have cancer because this " rouleaux " goes with myleoma.

Rouleau is common with chronic disease. What does this Md propose your next steps are? What negative test do you have? Western blot?

Why do you think you have Lyme?

I've seen many on here with negative results from IGenex from people who strongly suspect Lyme.

That doctor doesn't have a clue. IGenex has more sensitive testing than other labs on the whole but actually misses band 23 often where Quest or Labcorp does not.

Honestly I wouldn't trust any lab besides IGenex or Advanced Labs when it comes to Lyme testing.

Rouleaux just means your red blood cells are stacking up in columns when visualized under a microscope. This happens from a number of different causes, including improperly drawn samples, coagulation abnormalities, inflammation, etc.

In other words, by itself, it is very hard to say what is causing this.

Lyme/coinfections may cause this, but there are many other possible causes.

I don't know what test was negative but I have had the bull's rash and one md says I have chronic neuro lyme and bartonella. I have been very ill for the last year. ha fatigue terrible neck pain and stiffness, low back pain, foot pain, tinnitus, lung congestion. I am really concerned the md I saw did not seem concerned about the rash I had. it looked just like a bull's eye and did not go away for several months. it would come and go and left a spotted scar on my arm. I thougth it was a spider bite and did not go to doctor while it was on my arm. I am seeing a lyme md with international association on friday. the doctor I saw said many doctors are certified by them but don't know as much about lyme as the doctor's in kansas, and washington d.c. this doctor I saw was a really good toxicologist.

If you are looking into Lyme I'm sure you're aware of the two conflicting approaches (IDSA and ILADS). It's not uncommon for doctors to trash talk ILADS. However, it's up to you to decide what to do.

The IDSA approach basically states that if you still have Lyme symptoms after a month of doxycycline you have a psychological issue and untreatable symptoms. ILADS persists to at least try to help patients regain some of their lives and reverse some of the symptoms that occur from chronic Lyme infection.

I've done a LOT of research on both approaches and was very skeptical of the entire controversy when I first got sick. In my opinion, ILADS is 100% taking the common sense approach to dealing with these types of complex infections and they have CURRENT research to back up their protocols. I would stick with a LLMD.

I would try to listen to your intuition- I believe you know what is right deep down. If you had a bulls eye rash, then I think there is not much doubt that you have lyme and if you are having other symptoms then I would keep the appt with the LLMD and at least see what they have to say.

I actually am neg. per Igenex and the CDC. However, I showed multiple pos. bands and some IND bands PLUS I have symptoms. So, I am clinically diagnosed as having lyme. I was skeptical too in the beginning but as I continue to do research and am treating and seeing some improvement, I do think I have lyme.

Good luck to you! It is so unfair that not only is there so much suffering but there is not a clear diagnosis.

If you had the rash and those symptoms, trust yourself and go see an LLMD

thank you everyone for your responses. I hope the md I see is knowledgeable about lyme, he is affliated with llads. if he doesn't do what I am in agreement with, I may have to go to either atlanta, washington or kansas.
