Lying here on my tenth day of antibiotics, feeling as bad and maybe worse than I ever have,

not sure if its herx, not even 100% sure that it is Lyme, my neurocardiogenic syncope is so

bad (fainting) that I cant stay on my feet for more than a couple of minutes, so.... I have

plenty of time to think, and I have a question that nobody has been able to answer for me.

If you test positive for one Lyme specific band, then how could that be a negative test?

I am well versed on the whole clinical diagnosis thing, but the question still stands because

it defies logic, at least to me. Thoughts?

I'll try!! LOL!

If said person tests positive on one of the Lyme specific bands, then it's not a negative test - even though it's still interpreted that way by the scared doc's that don't want to upset the apple cart with the CDC or the Medical Boards.

Those Lyme specific bands are:
25
28
34
37
39
83
93

This is why I always ask that members who have the tests done, receive the results and are told that it's negative to post their results. Because if one of the bands that I mentioned above shows up as a positive or even as a "ind" ( I think that's the right abbreviation!) then that person has the infection - otherwise how did they get that band to show up as a positive since nothing else but Lyme will make it show as a positive?

LOL! Do I have you confused yet? That doesn't take into consideration the fact that they only test for 4 or 5 of the more common strains of Lyme - there are over 100 different strains of Lyme in the US alone, 300 world wide!

BTW - are you detoxing and drinking plenty of water?

Hi Traveler, and thanks for the reply. I was told that band 23 was also lyme specific...
outer surface protein?? Anyway, I was diagnosed off of two separate western blots,
one came back positive for 23 and a month or so later another came back ind39 and
++41, with no band 23...along with pretty substantial clinical stuff. So I guess the question
would really be for the powers that be. Has anyone from cdc or the infectious disease folks
answered this one?

Oops! Yep! I missed band 23! Sorry!

It's going to take a lot before the 'powers that be' - ie: the CDC and the IDSA - to change their stance on much of anything! Their answer right now is that if you test positive on only a few bands, that means it was a false positive - rather than admit that they were wrong, and continue to ignore all the science that says otherwise.

So nice that we can count on them to keep us "safe", right?
