Typical dose of Mino?

Hi-

my dr has me on 500 mg 2x daily of Mino, among 2 other abx. He prescribed 750 mg. 2x a day, but there's NO WAY! I withered down to 113 lbs when this all started (Oct 2012), so this high dose seems excessive. I'm exhausted and emotionally not well on it....but of course wanting to get better, like all of us.

Anyone else's input?? Thanks!

That dosage is extremely high. I have never heard of anyone using that much. Are you sure it's not an error? The typical dose is 200mg per day.

Summer- thank you for your response. I'm completely out of it. My doc has me pulse Mino 2 weeks on and two off although I dread the 2 weeks on....

Somewhere on the forum I read 500 mg 2x daily was therapeutic but all other posts agree with what you said. I'm curious to hear your story. When you have some time would you mind sharing your experience with me ? I see you post often. Thanks and happy a Memorial Day!

I know that when I was seeing a LLMD back in 2007, he had me on 900 mgs of Mino a day - 300 mgs three times a day- for a full 12 months. I was told the same thing as Summer3 said - too high of a dose.

about all I can say about that size dose is that it made me a lot worse (likely a cytokine storm) and I ended up with real seizures, Lyme seizures, bed bound for 2 months and house bound for another 3 months and a lot worse off.

Be sure you are detoxing very well, and watch for serious issues to crop up quickly!

P.s. does one's weight go into the equation of prescription dosages?

Some meds are based on weight but standard is 200mg of Mino because even going above that causes a lot of dizziness. Even Dr. H. in NY suggests 200mg and he's pretty aggressive.

I've been on Mino for many months. It's an easy one for me compared to some of the others. I didn't notice any severe herxing from it. I'm on MANY other abx at the same time though. Mino is a good drug. It's very low risk in terms of permanent side effects and it has good penetration in the blood brain barrier.

That's WAY too high and could be dangerous! I was on 200mg. That's aggressive with Mino. It's the equivalent of 400 mg doxy.

Thank you for your responses everyone! I decided to break them in half and take 250 mg 2x per day. Hope you all are managing well and feeing hopeful.

I"m taking 100 mg right now and working up to 200 mg.
