Hi all! I've just had the most challenging week in a long time. Prior to this, most of my symptoms were neuro. On on week 5 of a 9 week abx protocol, and I think the devil himself has been unleashed in my body. I'm having truly unbearable nerve pain that starts in my knees. When I move certain ways, it shoots up through my body-unpleasant is an understatement. 2 questions: 1. Is there anything I can take to ease this pain? Not even Percocet has helped so far. 2 does this sound like a normal herx! Would it be best if I just stopped the abx until the pain is gone?
Any other suggestions? Thanks
Bill

Hi Bdoc,
It does sound like a Neuro herx. The only thing that ever touched my pain has been acupuncture, but I know that not all are willing to give that a try.
Are you doing the Epsom Salt and Peroxide soaks? That was about
the only other thing I could find to help ease that kind of pain.

Hi Trav- I am doing Epsom salt baths almost everyday. I'm also using an Infrared Sauna. I'm taking Lyrica and another drug that I can't remember the name of right now. Oh, I also have Mobic which hasn't seemed to have helped at all. I have done accupuncture in the past, but not recently. How often do you use accupuncture?

Sorry - we had to go get feed for the goats! Those horns are a little too pointy when they are mad because they don't get fed!! LOL!
I usually have acupuncture every two weeks - although sometimes I would make a special trip when I was in a lot of pain. I was pretty much afraid of getting started using the really strong pain meds for long, as I had a really hard time quitting smoking and was concerned that once started on the strong pain meds, I would quickly get addicted to them. Not a place I wanted to go, so I stuck to the acupuncture, Epsom salt baths and such like that.
Heat usually helped too, so I used either a microwavable heat bag, or an electric heating pad. I went for a while where I couldn't be around heating pads, electric blankets, be close to a microwave while it was running and so on, due to my nerves and all of their dysfunction.

Bdoc, sorry to hear you're in so much pain. Hope you feel better. Also, you may want to check with Dr. J's office about
upping your vitamin B or mineral supplements...just an idea, and perhaps they would have another suggestion altogether to help you.
