Hello there..wondered if anyone can help. Yesterday, I received the MELISA result for my daughter. The first 3 blocks of numbers were low...0.something or 1.something (P41 IF Afzelii P41 IF Gar and the P41 IF ses.) Then on the Borrelia Mix of OspA/VisE of garinii, afzelii and s.stricto for the peptide mix it was 2.89 (3 would be a plus) and for the Peptide mix 2 it was 2.66 (again 3 would be a plus) so these 2 numbers are almost a +.

Then we go onto the Borrelia full Antigen lysate of B.Burgorferi sensu stricto which reads as follows:
Full antigen 0.96
Full antigen2 1.20
Full antigen3 2.25
Morphology positive

...

Then it says: Only one positive reaction to borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto full antigen, no immuno response to the other antigens tested.

The result of the test has to be stated as equivocal/inderterminate.

According to clinical symptoms a repetition of the test in 4-6 weeks should be considered.

Awaiting Igenex results, but am I right in thinking that something showed up? x

I still don't understand why doctors even use this test, other than they really don't want to have to diagnose Lyme disease:

A 56% false-negative rate, depending upon the commercial kit, was found by Luger and Krause (18), as compared to their own clinical diagnoses. Golightly et al (34) saw a lack of sensitivity with a 70% false-negative rate in early Lyme disease and from 4% to 46% with late manifestations of Lyme disease.

But on to your question.....

This would indicate that something was found, which generally means that a Western Blot would pick up positive bands. ELISA tests are the least sensitive of the tests used for detecting Lyme.

The most knowledgeable LLMD's will diagnose clinically (by symptoms) as these tests rely on the immune system response which can be non-existent in some people. I took high doses of abx for a full year before I finally tested positive for Lyme and RMSF.
