Does LD cause us to be more resistant to other bactera?

I was getting cortisone injections in my foot for a neuroma and apparently the podiatrist gave me two many injection (7). When they were not working, he gave me an alcohol injection which is suppose to deaden the nerve. After that injection I got a terrible infection. I needed to go to wound care and and ID dr. I might need an iv antibiotic. Does anybody think that having lyme had something to do with it? Thanks for any opinions.

First of all, let me say that I'm sooo sorry to hear this!! My hubby has a neuroma as well, but he told my hubby that if the third one doesn't 'fix' it, then it likely wouldn't with more injections either.

I would say that having Lyme usually means having a compromised immune system, so that when something happens that the body could normally handle, we end up with an infection, or something else like that. The body is under a heavy load with Lyme alone, add in co-infections and it just gets worse.

Many say that having Lyme disease is equivalent to the same amount of disability as those with congenital heart disease. That says a lot!

Do what you have to do to get this infection under control, then you can get back to healing from Lyme. Oh, but be sure your LLMD knows what's going on too!

Thanks traveler. That is what I thought. I have spoken to many people including other drs and we all agree he gave me way too many injections. I plan on doing exactly what you said. Unfortunately, the bacteria that i have is very hard to treat. It is called psuedomonas aeruginosa. It hurts and looks disgusting. My summer is ruined. I cant get it wet and I can hardly walk.It is hard enough to walk when my balance issue kicks in and then on top of it i have to have this problem. And to boot, when I type my space bar on my laptop is getting stuck, making typing difficult. What next...lol. Thanks for your input.

Pseudomonas typically only are able to attack when your immune system is severely compromised. The best thing you can do is try to strengthen the immune system.

Uvi ursa, garlic and Myrtus as a wash would be something to consider. Boil the he'll out of the distilled wash water. You could also take Uvi Ursi and garlic internally. You should be able to find studies on all of these. I'd also looking into silver infused wound dressings.

Pseudomonas is a super hardy bug and I'm so sorry you are having to fight it. If you do iv abx, typically you need a couple different ones instead of mono therapy.
