Hi, I'm new to this forum and trying to figure out my symptoms which were at first diagnosed as a Vitamin B12 deficiency.
Just wanted to ask about
facial numbness and lyme's. Although I finished my antibiotic treatment in March I have recently been aware of a numb spot on one side of my face - comes and goes. Terrified this is the start of Bell's Palsy. Anyone else with a similar problem?
Thanks.

Well I've only been on treatment for 1.5 months and during one of my bad herxes a few days back, my face started going numb. Luckily it passed and no paralysis.
Are you seeing a LLMD? I would ask your dr. about
this...

Thank you Heather for your reply.
I'm just at the beginning of this quest for information. Dermatologist treated the EM and diagnosed lyme although biopsy was inconclusive and blood test negative. I was put on course of antibiotics. Still have tingling in feet and have seen neurologist - will see her soon again and will ask her about
this vague facial numbness. I'm waiting on the result of new test, lymphocyte transformation test (see http://www.melisa.org/metals-disease/diseases/borrelialyme-disease). This will hopefully tell me if the disease is still active. So far I have only consulted dermatologist and neurologist. I will have to find a LLMD.
Thanks again and good luck with your treatment.

I have had facial numbness just about
every day for the last one and a half years. It usually isn't too bad in the morning but gets worse once the afternoon hits. It is an odd combination of pain and numbness all at the same time. This is my most consistent symptom.
I have not experienced facial paralysis. Numbness, yes. Paralysis, no. I don't think the numbness will automatically manifest into Bells Palsy. If one always meant the other, I figure that I definitely would have been hit by that by now.

In my case, the numbness comes and goes (sometimes one side of my torso will go numb). I've had it for a few years now, but no paralysis so far... Pfew....

That is really interesting and reassuring. The numbness on the side of my face is really faint but comes and goes. I also get pain on the roof of my mouth which tends to disappear after a few days?? A few months ago my tongue and lips tingled and it was awful to brush my teeth with toothpaste. That seems to have calmed down and hopefully won't reappear...
