I just wanted to see if anyone has had a similar experience in trying to supplement for the a1298 homozygous gene.
This was the only gene my dr. tested for and b/c I had 2 copies, she recommended that I take the active forms of folate and b-12. So I started taking them at the recommended dosage and had adverse reactions. My head felt extremely weird, dizzy, after I'd eat, every time I ate. And I noticed when I drank wine as well, which I never had any trouble with prior. There were times when I thought my head was going to explode, and I'd never experienced any of this before.
so after doing my own research and talking with another practicioner who I think understands this better, realized that I was reacting to sulfur content. I had to go on a low sulfur diet - eliminating spinach, onions, garlic, brocolli, cauliflower, eggs, wine, etc. I LIVED on all of these foods prior to ever taking those supplements...with no issues whatsoever.
I don't know why this was all of a sudden set off. I'm still feeling the effects from these foods and many medicines b/c a lot of them contain sulfur. But I've learned that molybdenum helps clear the sulfur and my head, if I happen to take too much.
I have another call with my dr. tomorrow now that I've received results from the 23andme test. Hoping to get some answers b/c I feel like I should've left this alone, like I started something that I didn't need to. It's been very frustrating as my diet is already limited enough with yeast. Sulfur is in a lot of things!
Just beware before you go down this path.
