I recently came across this article and found it interesting. It speaks to a lot of the issues that many of us encounter. I had my husband read it when he was getting frustrated with me not helping around the house enough and I was trying to explain that I just couldn't do more then I was doing. It helped

Thanks! That would be good to have copies of to give to people who don't get it at all. I have one other addition. I have chosen so forgo antibiotics for now and some people don't like that I have made that choice. I don't bother trying to explain why any more.

I'm with you. I could not tolerate the antibiotics. It's a personal choice in how we deal with this.

I find lately that I just want to some people to understand, not all, but those closest to me. When I said something to my sister in law about a Lyme symptom she barely hid her snort, it wasn't my imagination. It makes me nuts.

I also have a really bad time with finding words and I'm starting to get sick of people making fun of me like I'm stupid. They wouldn't make fun of a person on crutches for not being able to walk. It's just hard to get others to understand.

Sometimes the words of others are easier then trying to explain for yourself.

Totally understand. My brother actaully sent that same article to me, because he has started reading and trying to understand.

I understand LoveHealth. I got to where I just tell people that my daughter and I are chronically ill and leave it at that. When my brother first heard our diagnoses, he asked if we were taking antibiotics and I hesitantly told him we weren't and he just shook his head, indicating that it was a poor choice, but he has never had a MD tell him to get a life and has never had a chronic illness and he has friends that are doctors.
I also live in the PNW where not many know about Lyme, especially long term Lyme. I didn't. I spent many years trying to find out what was wrong with my daughter as she gradually got worse. So now I try to educate people around here, so they're at least aware it exists here. One small paper did an article on my daughter and I. He does it once a year to help others learn that it is out here and what it can do if left untreated, so that's a good start.
