Questioning or not accepting Lyme diagnosis.

Long story, but I live and vacation in an area where I could have contracted Lyme disease. I never found an embedded deer tick, but did have a dog tick in my hair for a couple of days many years ago. I haven't felt great in a long time, but have thyroid issues (Hashimoto's). I addressed this and felt a lot better until last fall when I went through 3 major stressors all at once. I went very hyper with my thyroid and my adrenals went crazy. I was very hyper for 2 weeks and having panic attacks and anxiety. I slowly got that straightened out and felt better, but over the winter I noticed more joint pains, particularly my left knee. I thought maybe this was from moving into an appointment on the third floor and having to climb stairs more. I also had somewhat of an exacerbation of other things, like numbness and tingling in the right side of my face, which is the side where I used to have cluster headaches. I always thought this was a leftover of those. I also have some numbness and tingling in my back and have back pain, which I tend to blame on my desk job. I have had red, blood shot eyes for a long time, which can be associated with thyroid issues. I occasionally get a sudden sharp pain in the side of my leg or in my back. This spring my right ear started whooshing. Decongestants would help it. I haven't had it in a while. Anyway, before this gets too long, I was tested for Lyme by Igenex and these are my results:

I saw the NP at the practice of a LLMD because she cost less to see initially. I have since found out that she doesn't have a lot of experience treating Lyme. She has not been at this practice very long. She said my symptoms sounded "Lymey" and ordered the test. My CD57 is 126. CD4 did not get done by the lab. I tested negative for all coinfections through Labcorp. At my second appointment to go over the testing, she seemed iffy about making a diagnosis, but said we could treat and see what happened. I agreed and started on Doxycycline 100 mg three times a day and Plaquenil 200 mg twice a day. I didn't notice much different. Seemed like the usual fluctuations in symptoms. I did run a very slight fever a few days. I also had some very bad dreams and the longer I took the antibiotics the more anxious I became. I also was becoming sensitive to the sun. Because of these two things, I called yesterday and asked to have the Doxy changed. The doctor called me back and put me on Biaxin 200 mg twice a day, which I started last night instead of the Doxy. I don't feel a lot different today, maybe slightly less anxious.
I am seriously questioning whether I should have started treatment without being more sure. I have been on a couple of facebook groups and most people on there tell me my test is considered a hot test and my symptoms say Lyme, but I find myself still wondering. I don't want to go through treatment that makes me feel this bad for nothing. I'm considering getting a second opinion.
Has anyone else gone through this? Do I have good reason to question it? I really need some advice here.

I am really thinking about either asking to see the LLMD at the practice or there is an NP who worked with him who left to start her own practice that someone I have spoken to sees and trusts. I'm drinking lemon water all day and doing epsom salt baths, although not very often. I'm a big person and my tub is small, so soaking is not an easy thing. LOL. I've been gluten free for about a year and a half and I am also sugar and dairy free for about a month now. Also not eating a lot of grains, just some oats and brown rice, although I'm feeling very limited in what I can cook on this. The anxiety is killing me and not knowing if I'm herxing or reacting to the antibiotics, or just freaking out over the whole situation. I work from home and am feeling very isolated and frustrated. I think I would have been a lot happier if I had had a clearly positive test. I guess I need to take it one day at a time. I have another appointment on the 1st and I'll see what sort of feeling I get then and make a decision about seeing someone else.

Go with your gut instinct...a lot of folks on here will say that too. Go to the LLMD or the one that started her own practice. If you have spasms be careful.of lemon water. It increases them. Also anxiety is a symptom of Lyme, Babesia and Bartonella. So its the natural anxiety coupled with the actual symptom.

So sorry you feel this way :-( but you're on the right path and that's a good thing!

Also have you tried foot baths since soaking is a challenge? Very helpful!

Many of us here have had periods or moments that they doubted a lyme or coinfection diagnosis... I too have them, although that my tests came back positive, that my CD57 is very low and despite of the huge list of symptoms I had for more than 18 years now...

I think that lots of us have been 'abused' (that's how I call it) by doctors for such a long time, that we started to doubt ourselves... it even makes us doubt our gut feeling...

My intuition usually is spotless, but I doubt my intuition when it's about my infections...

When I start doubting my disease, I just blame it on the Lyme/Bart... - lol - these infections have had a huge impact on my mental state...
